Deadball: 1909 - Houston Heat vs The Vegas Vipers

Game 2 of our series sees the Houston Heat take on the Vegas Vipers. Here are the highlights.

Innings 1 and 2 were uneventful.

Inning 3: Drew Robinson (Houston, UT/RF) singled. Vipers pitcher Pablo Gilabert then gets a strikeout on designated hitter Alex Manzanedo. Following up, Arthur Adams (Houston, 1B) hits a hard line drive that allows Drew to race the bases and score the initial run for the Heat. Pablo responds by striking out Roberto Rasgado and Isaiah Butler one after the other to end the top half of the third. The Vipers go down quick, only getting a single, followed by a strikeout, then a double play to end the inning.

Inning 4: The Heat were not able to capitalize on the momentum, and the Vipers second baseman Hendrix Oliver hits a triple, then a follow-up double by Koby Young (2B) brings the first run for the Vipers. Then first baseman Luciano Figueroa hits a hard single to the outfield, allowing the base runners to advance and bringing home Koby Young to make the score 1 to 2.

Inning 5: Both sides hit a double but then leave their guy stranded.

Inning 6: Roberto Rasgado (C, Heat) hits a double, then Isaiah Butler brings him home with a solid line drive that allows him to reach home, tying up the score 2-2.

Inning 7: Carter Curry (CF, Heat) was the only one to reach base, on a single.

Inning 8: Relief pitcher for the Vipers, Noah Lowe, goes on a tear striking out all three Heat batters. Vipers utility player Ramón Pousa comes in as a pinch hitter for center fielder Myles Moreno and immediately gets hit by a pitch. Hendrix Oliver singles right after, setting up a chance to take the lead. Koby Young gets picked off in a fielder's choice, but Luciano Figueroa steps up and hits a solid single that allows the runners to advance and score two additional runs. The Heat get a strikeout and then hit Avery Cardinal, putting him on first. Hayden Day, right fielder for the Vipers, hits a grounder to second base, bringing an end to the inning, which saw all nine players for the Vipers see play.

Inning 9: The Heat's power hitter Arthur Davidson hits a grounder to shortstop, leading to a quick out. The speedster Ian Águila flies out to left field, and Jay Sutton sends it straight to second base to bring the game to a close, 2 to 4, Vipers.
