Update 2026
Oh what a past few months it has been.
Forced job changes, another major move across the country, and a whole lot more. The good news is that things in the new year are already starting to slow down enough that I can finally get back to doing some in-person gaming, as well as continuing my solo efforts.
I’ll be continuing my D&D-inspired solo run, but I’m also looking to branch out with a campaign idea I’ve wanted to run for years. I always doubted I could ever get a group together to actually play it, so why not put it to the test as a solo game?
I won’t spoil the surprise, but anyone who grew up in the ’80s and owned a particular gaming console from that era might just get a kick out of what I have coming down the pipe on this one.
Over the holiday, I’ve also gathered some new tools for my bag of tricks when it comes to running solo games. Many of these are system-agnostic, and I’ll be providing examples, along with tips and tricks for using them in just about any kind of game.
On top of working toward better physical health, I’m also focusing on keeping the ol’ noggin flexible. That includes finally making time to get through part of my reading backlog. Currently, I’m working my way through the Elric saga, and I already have a good-sized stack of books lined up that I’m looking forward to reading this year.
Combine that with a regular influx of puzzles in a variety of styles, plenty of sleep, and consistent workouts, and it should help keep my brain flexible and hopefully my creative juices flowing.
With all of that said, I’m looking forward to a new year full of adventures, many of which I can’t wait to share with you all.
